Wedding Planning: Get The Basics Covered

by Tyler Reese

Planning a wedding is by no means an easy task. You will try to ensure that whatever you plan is enjoyable for everyone who attends but bare in mind that it should be the most enjoyable for you.

As a couple you will want to have the memories of your wedding day stay with you for as long as you live, which for the majority of your guests will not be the case.

When it comes to sharing your ideas with the people closest to you it'll be best to try keep your emotions out of the discussions. This will be a tall ask obviously but it will be the best way to get great suggestions.

A wedding planning tip often overlooked is that there may be some guests who would love to come to your wedding but might find it financially problematic to do so. You need to look ahead and see if you can't get deals with local hotels for accommodation or to even plan car pools so that out-of-town guests will not have to rent a vehicle.

If you're pressed for time or just don't want to spoil your wedding day by getting into the nitty gritty of dealing with caterers, florists and photographers you could get a package deal from a company that specialises in these areas. Leaving you with the fun stuff to do.

Although giving control over to an unknown person may have you feeling skeptical on whether or not it could work, rest assured wedding planners know their way around weddings and can often get you better deals for your day. You simply have to take the time to tell them what you wish for on your day.

No matter how patient a person you may be or how tolerant, planning your wedding day will be stressful because you'll want everything just right. You can reduce the stress by making detailed lists and being clear about exactly what you want.

Whether you need to hire a wedding planner to plan your entire day or you just need to outsource some of the tasks to family and friends make sure everyone knows exactly what they are supposed to be doing.

This is your special day and should not be hampered by unforeseen problems or last minute tasks that didn't get finished. If you need help, ask for it. If you need an opinion, ask for it but be wary. Remember this is your dream day and whether it comes together well or falls apart before the cake is cut, these are your memories that will last a lifetime.

Information on Caring for Flowers

by John Bear

Everyone of us love receiving flowers whether fresh flowers or silk flower. One of the attractions of flowers is their fleeting beauty that makes them great gifts. They are also a great way to bring warmth, joy and happiness. The only problem about fresh flowers is that they never seem to last and we usually want the blooms to last as long as possible.

Fortunately, there are many little things that you can do to lengthen the life span of the beautiful floral design your flower arrangements, floral bouquet and even wedding flowers and wedding flower bouquet. You should using proper flower care routines to keep the flowers from dying awfully fast and to even prolong their life span.

Prepare the vase for your flowers by making sure that it is very clean. Bacteria can kill the flowers by blocking the stems, preventing the flowers from taking on water. You should use a vase that is in proportion to the size and amount of flowers that you have ordered. Using an inappropriate vase could create even more water loss that you are not aware of.

Once the stems of flowers have been cut, you have removed their life support system, so the flowers should be placed in the container with water as soon as possible. You should use lukewarm water in your vase because lukewarm water has lower oxygen levels that will help the stem to intake water and will in turn prompt the flowers to open faster. There is also a need to use a flower preservative or floral food in the water because it helps develop the buds to open and it could kill harmful bugs and dirt.

Use a sharp knife or cutter in cutting the stems; scissors can crush the ends of the stems. You should cut the stems off at an angle about 3cm from the bottom underwater. Cutting at an angle opens up the stem and it provides a greater surface area flower can take on water. It also prevents the stem from becoming sealed against the bottom of the vase. An air bubble that gets into the veins in the stem of the flower would prevent it from getting water and nutrients; to prevent this, there is a need to cut the stems underwater.

Make certain that only the flower's stem is under water. Do not allow leaves to be under the water level since that could cause them to rot. Also, never overcrowd the flowers; you should allow enough air to circulate between each flower.

You should remember to never place flowers in bright or overheated areas in your home. Strong heat and sunlight can cause an excess water loss and breed bacteria. You should also remove the dead leaves immediately, as they will breed bacteria, which will damage your flower. Always replace the water in the container after 2-3 days and always remember to re-cut the stem of the flowers underwater.

When you receive flowers or order flowers for someone or for your home in your favorite flower shop, or flower delivery services online, remember these tips so that your flowers will last longer than ever before so you can enjoy the warmth and beauty of nature in your home. For further information, consult the local flower shop or florist in your locale.

7 Creative Personalized Wedding Favors Revealed

by Chrissy Defour

Most couples planning a wedding see their special occasion as deeply personal. And so it should be. One way to express that is to create personalized wedding favors for their guests. It adds a connection to the bride and groom and gives the guests a special memento they can long remember.

There are several ways by which you can personalize wedding favors. The method used is usually dependent on the type of wedding favor to be given away.

You can extend your personal touch down to the very last detail like the place cards. It is a small detail that when taken into consideration, does a lot to contribute to the table's whole motif. It may bring the whole look together.

Holders in the shape of maple leaf are very popular for fall weddings. You can easily add the wedding details - date, names of bride and groom, and wedding location - in the center of the holder. Your guests would love to display the favors on their mantles when they go home.

A Las Vegas wedding calls for a number of things. One thing you may try is giving out decks of cards with your names in it with a logo of the hotel at the bottom. Don't forget to check with the hotel about any copyright or infringement law. Or you can give away shot glasses with poker chip designs or small buckets that contain chocolate poker chips.

With the said chocolate poker chips, you can make them more personalized by having your names and wedding date embossed on the wrapper. Chocolate mint tins also make great personalized wedding favors. And if you don't want chocolate mints, you may put in coffee or tea as favors.

Many favors are wrapped or decorated. That gives yet another opportunity for personalization. A box of party favors might be wrapped with a ribbon that is printed with names, date or a special phrase you use in your ceremony. A bag of candies can be tied with a bow that contains your personal message.

You might be considering tealights, a favorite favor among those planning a wedding. They can be personalized in several ways, too. The bottom of the tealight can be stamped or have a sticker that references your wedding date and names. Even the candle area itself can include text on the bottom that spells out your personal text. The tealight candle melts, revealing your clever design.

And to accompany your tea lights, you can distribute personalized strike matches. You can imprint the outside of the matchbook with your monogram or personal logo while the inside flap can contain a small sketch map to the reception. The names of the bridal couple and the date can be printed on the back.

No matter what gift item you choose for your wedding favor, you can always personalize even if it means only adding a small tag or something. Personalized wedding favors will always be appreciated as guests also like to be reminded on how and where they got a particular item.

How to Choose Flowers for Your Future Mother-In-Law

by Amy Nutt

Getting married is a joyous time. It is a time in which you make vows to spend the rest of your life with that special someone. The wedding planning can be somewhat stressful, but not quite as stressful as impressing the mother-in-law. Mothers are protective of their children, so it is important to let the future mother-in-law know that you are the right one for her child. This involves showing much respect and doing what you need to do to get her approval. If you do not get her approval, then your spouse has to hear how mom feels you are not good enough.

Well, she may not say that you're not good enough, but it is still good to let the future mother-in-law know that you respect her. After all, she is the mother of your future spouse who is the reason for your happiness. You have to express this thankfulness somehow and a great way to do that is by giving her flowers as a simple thank you for being such a great mother to your future spouse.

How to choose the flowers

Choosing the right wedding flowers can be somewhat difficult because you don't want to get her flowers that she hates. You also don't want to get her flowers that she will be indifferent about. Sure, the gesture is kind, but you want to make sure that your choice is one that will make her very pleased.

So sit down with your future spouse and ask:

1. What kind of flowers does your mom like?

2. What are her favorite colors?

3. Does she like real or artificial flowers?

Asking these questions are a great way to figure out what it is your future mother-in-law likes. If by some chance your future spouse does not know the answers to all of these questions, be observant when you are at your future mother-in-law's house. Does she have flowers or other plants around? Does she have pictures of flowers or is there are consistency in floral patterns on curtains and even furniture? If you notice that she has a fondness for floral patterns with pink roses, then chances are she likes pink roses. If you get her pink roses, then you know that they will match the room.

Another thing to look at if your future spouse doesn't have the answer is if there are real plants or artificial plants in the house. Does she have any pets? If she has pets, then she might prefer artificial flowers above real ones because the animals may try to eat them.

Don't be obvious

Aside from asking your future spouse questions, try not to be too obvious when looking around the house. This can look rather suspicious. If the information is not easily available, the home most certainly contains the answers. If there are no answers within the home, ask your future spouse if she is opposed to roses. Many women love roses and giving your future mother-in-law pink, yellow, or even peach roses can make her day. By coordinating with the color themes in her home, she knows that you are paying attention, which tells her that you have a regard for her, that you are observant, and that you are concerned about what she thinks. That tells her that you respect her and you will gain her respect in return.

Having her respect is very important when marrying her child because this means that there will be peace within the family and a regard for each other. Giving her flowers says so much and choosing the right wedding flowers says so much more.

Wedding Photography Tips

by Sean Lamb

Oh Dear! Your best friend has realised that wedding photography is just too expensive for their already stretch budget and, because you have a half decent camera, has asked you to do the honour. The trouble is you have never done a wedding and this is the most important day in their life. You have to tell your friends that of course you will do you best but you do not guarantee the shots. In these litigious days, it may be worth getting something drawn up and signed by both parties, just to be on the safe side.

First thing to do is to talk over with the couple about the shots that they think are the most important for them. These will be the ones that you have to get right. Find out the address of the wedding venue and reception and the times. Armed with this, go and visit the sites so that you will have advanced knowledge of all the suitable places to stage the shots, bearing in mind the time of day and where the sun will be at that time, take some reference shots so you will know where to go on the day. Remember if the wedding is some time away, the sun may well be higher or lower in the sky.

Preparation is the key, make sure that all the batteries are fully charged and that you have back ups. If you are using film, take along at least six extra rolls, if you are shooting digital make sure that you have enough spare memory cards. If you have the expertise, it is best to use RAW rather than JPEG as you will have a better chance to alter things after the shots are taken. You will be shooting at the highest resolution to ensure good print quality so memory capacity is crucial.

To ensure you have all the right people, ask the couple to point out the people who they must have in their photographs, perhaps jot down their names to remember. When it comes to the group shots, get everybody arranged first, then you can gradually discard them, ending up with the happy couple, who may not be that happy by this time. Children should be photographed as soon as possible, whilst they are still in pristine condition.

Just because you have checked out the scene, don't forget to look through the viewfinder and make sure there is nothing untoward, like trees or posts that will detract from the picture before taking the first shot. You may have chosen a particularly pleasing background but it is worth doing a couple of extra shots with a wiser aperture that will blur the back drop and make the people stand out.

When using fill-in flash you will probably encounter a problem with people who wear spectacles which will give you a quite nasty flare. The easiest solution would be to get them to remove the offending articles but then they may not be recognised in the final shots. Get the person or people to just move their head/s towards the couple, any other direction may give the appearance of disinterest.

When it comes to the reception it will probably be indoors so you will have to use flash all the time. To avoid harsh shadows you can bounce it off the ceiling, if it's not too high or has a dark colour. Another way is to put thin tissue paper over the front of the flash which will diffuse the light but practice before you attend the wedding.

With the big day over you need to get your films processed as soon as possible. The best, if more expensive solution, is to use a professional laboratory, failing that, take them to a drop in lab that you know and trust. Do not post them, just in case they get lost. Some labs may even provide you with a CD as well. Those who have shot digital should down load their images to the hard drive where the worst ones can be deleted and the best ones can be burnt onto a CD and given to the happy couple. Your wedding photography may lead you to a new career.

7 Wonderful Summer Wedding Favors for Your Summer Wedding

by Chrissy Defour

It is a trend nowadays for couples to get married during summer. The choice may be personal or just to follow traditions, but they know that summer brings a lot more opportunity and space to do what they want in their wedding. It is not as restricting as what other seasons bring in; this flexibility extends to choosing the summer wedding favors to please the wedding guests.

If you're getting married in the summer, know that there are plenty of summer activities and elements you can incorporate in your wedding favors.

Summer flowers are a delight at any wedding. Continuing that look to decorate the table and provide a small gift for guests is a great idea. Small flower holders, perhaps personalized with the bride and groom's names and the date is one way to do so. Fill the little vase with silk summer roses and you've got a hit.

Share with your guests snippets of your honeymoon plans. If you intend to go to the lake where you'll do some sailing, you can use that in designing your summer wedding favors. The perfect gift would be a miniature glass sailboat adorned with a wedding symbol. You can add a few tiny beach balls in different colors to portray a likely scene during your honeymoon.

Decorate the tables with clams, shells, starfish and sand crabs handcrafted from marble, resin or any other material. Your guests can take these home with them — summer trinkets that they can enjoy even during the cold winter months.

Maybe you're heading out to a tropical island for your honeymoon vacation. Perfect. Sea breezes, water sports, lazing in the sun. Provide your guests with miniature reminders of the joy to come. A tiny golf bag and clubs will amuse many. Or, select some pineapple-themed name card holders. Toss into the little sandbox some flip flop leather keychains in Hawaiian colors.

One of the most sentimental wedding favors is the picture frame. You can turn a plain picture frame into a summer-inspired wedding favor by decorating it with nautical stripes along the border with blue and white colored glitters, and seashells. Complete it with a photo of you and your partner. Miniature goggles and flippers make great summer wedding favors too especially if one or both of you are diving enthusiasts. Mini colorful pails are perfect as candle holders; don't forget to include scented tea lights and decorate then with bows to enhance the motif.

If you're heading for a wild (read: forest, nature, mountains) honeymoon, you can give summer wedding favors that reflect the adventure you'll have in the great outdoor. How about figurines of the wildlife or even flower-shaped soaps?

A good idea is to provide mini-lanterns that hold either a bulb or a tea light candles to add more light at the tables. For a truly representational summer wedding favor, you can give tiny cabins set under miniature redwoods or pine trees. Or, you can choose small ceramic horses to depict the many horse rides you will enjoy during your vacation. Your guests will only be too happy to display your gifts in their home.

The possibilities are endless. But no matter which summer wedding favors you choose you can't go wrong. Every guest will be happy with the summer wedding favor you select because it will remind them of the joy they shared with you that special day.
