ASIANS GO WESTERN
A typical Japanese bride wears a white wedding kimono called shiro-maku on her wedding day. Japanese brides don’t wear bridal veils, instead the hair is styled in a traditional way and embellished with accessories and also a white hood covering her head. She does not carry a bouquet but a small sack like purse also a small sword in a case and a fan. The fan will be opened little by little and this actually symbolizes happiness.
Nowadays, some Japanese have tried to mix the Japanese and Western wedding styles because of the unstoppable Western influences, but the others remain reluctant.
Are you the type that will boldly try something out of the ordinary? If you are a bride to be in the east, why not try a western wedding theme. For a gown, try the ever so romantic Victorian-inspired wedding gown that has a square neckline and fitted bodice. This bride’s attire will only be completed with Victorian style hat and lace up boots. Maybe you can also try a dress with off your shoulder neckline; equipped with beadwork.
With this startling idea, your wedding will surely be remembered. If you want the memory be perennial, give your guests horseshoe-shaped coaster wedding favors. Months after your wedding, one (or many) of your guests will smile as he recalls the day that was, when you successfully had an unusual yet fun wedding; just because of the coaster he uses in drinking a glass of juice.
WESTERNS GO ASIAN
Asian culture is a mystery to the western world. Westerners are constantly exploring the facet of eastern culture and some have even adopted it for their life. Weddings are an aspect of the culture that westerners are eager to explore. Today, you may see a growing trend of westerners opting for an eastern wedding.
If a western bride chooses a Chinese wedding, she will have to wear a wedding garment in red. Red is the primary color of the Chinese and it symbolizes prosperity, love and joy.
The bride wears a red Cheongsam (a fitted knee-length dress worn by Chinese women) with the phoenix and red dragon design. Her hair is neatly styled with an elaborate headdress or with a bridal crown. Back in the old days, a red bridal veil was also used to conceal the bride’s face. Imagine a white, blonde woman wearing a traditional Chinese wedding outfit, with her eyes turned chinky because of makeup. That’s definitely a cool sight to see.
Photo album makes wonderful memorabilia, and having a Chinese theme wedding, you can have the front and the back covered with silk and handcrafted dragon and phoenix design. You can be sure that they’ll love the photo album favors that has a taste of the orient and can become a collectibles for those who love collecting items from east.
Your wedding day is your special day and because of that, you are free to do whatever your hearts desire. However, for couples who come from conservative family, it would not hurt to as the parents consent before embarking on your wedding day project. Though they may be a little unsure of the idea at first but I’m sure they will be delighted once you include them in from the planning stage. For those who have not hurdles in pursuing fresh ideas in their wedding then by all means go for it!
