So many weddings are themed: beach weddings, black tie, fairy tale, heart themes, and the list continues forever. Every single thing in that wedding points to who the bride and groom are and what they love. So many times while conferring on a wedding, the bride would turn to me and reply, “But why do I have to do it that way?” I never had an answer for her, because much of what we do at weddings follows tradition. Then who’s to say that tradition cannot be changed. But one thing that seems to never be able to be changed are your wedding favors.

Just recently something interesting happened. The couple’s theme was “love.” From the ceremony to the honeymoon, theyintended for it to be around this word and showed it in every area of the day. Then we came to the closing decision; what unique wedding favors were they going to choose, considering there are so many with their specific theme. That’s when she looked over and asked me that question which has changed the way we look at wedding favors. She wanted her guests to feel like they were the most important ingredient of the day.

Wedding organizing can be a terrible experience. Who has time to even think about what to give for wedding favors? And how vital is it anyway; it just sits there on the guest’s table. Should I even worry about which one to buy? I’ll just forget about it and do it when I have time.

Don’t make your wedding favors an addendum. Make sure your guests know that you appreciate them and that they are very vital to you and your new spouse. Whether anyone likes it or not, that first feeling that your guest gets and feels as he sees those wedding favors on their table at the wedding, will be a big factor is how they feel about your special day. Give some consideration before choosing this item. It is a big reflection on your day.
